How to open your free ebook in your Kindle or iBook app

I know it can be frustrating to figure out how to get the free ebooks to your favorite reading app. Unfortunately, because Kindle and iBooks want you to buy stuff at their stores they make it a little more difficult to put free stuff on your device.

Thankfully, it’s not impossible. There are 3 ways you could choose:

1. Open in Kindle.    2 Open in iBooks.    3. Open by emailing yourself.

1. Open free book on Kindle:

  1. Click the “Kindle mobi” link in your monthly email. It will open in Google Drive…which looks like this:
    open free book kindle
    .
  2. Now you can open your free book in one of two ways:
  3. First, you can send it to your Kindle by choosing the “Export” button at the middle in the bottom of the screen.

    .
  4. That should give you a few options…scroll right until you see “Send to Kindle” and click that. It will send it to your Kindle.
    .
  5. Alternatively, instead of exporting you could click the bright blue “download” button.
  6. That will open in another page which *should* give you the option “open in Kindle”

2. Open free book in iBooks

  1. Click the “epub” link in the email.
  2. It will open in Google Drive which looks like this:

    .
  3. Click the big blue “Download” button.
  4. If it gives you the option “Open in Books” …click that!

    .
  5. Otherwise, click the export button (circled in red, below)

    .
  6. Then choose the bright orange “Copy to Books” option:

3. Email the book to yourself.

One other option is to email the book to yourself.

  1. First click “Download” (not Export. Export will just give you the option of emailing the link at this point).

    .
  2. After your phone has downloaded it, then click Export.

    .
  3. Exporting will give you the option of emailing the actual file to yourself as an attachment (see pic below). Click the mail icon and then send the email to yourself with the file already attached.
    .
  4. Once you receive the email, click on the file and it should give you the option to copy or send the file to your eReader:

That should be it! If you have any issues do let us know.
